Part of the explore BC series, Natasha Gubareva takes us on a mystical journey to British Columbia’s coast. A popular summer destination, Tofino is a breathtaking escape for anyone who wants to explore the Vancouver region during a stay. People trying to access Tofino by car will need to utilize the ferry, which transports visitors by way of water crossings – ferries can be accessed on both the Canadian as well as American side in cities such as Vancouver and Seattle.
Once arrived on Tofino, visitors can drive along Highway 4 throughout the island, stopping along the way for pictures or to enjoy any number of the annual activities that go on throughout the year including festivals and events. Each March, the Pacific Rim Whale Festival takes place to celebrate the grey whale migration – there is also a Tofino Food and Wine Festival that occurs each June.
On Tofino, aside from a surfer’s haven, there is something for everyone – ranging from fishing excursions to campsites, kayaking tours and an assortment of hospitality sites to enjoy!
